About the DMV Team

DMV Security Services is a licensed firm of security agents with a reputation for both successful security solutions and the use of innovative technology in the protection of life and property. The owners, Darin Rush and James Seger, are both recently retired law enforcement officers.  Combined, they have over 45 years of experience as uniformed patrol officers, criminal investigators, and supervisors in the DC Metropolitan Area.

Darin Rush began his career in law enforcement in 1997 as a uniformed security guard. In 1999, Darin graduated from the Prince George’s County Municipal Police Academy.  After graduating, Darin worked for a few different small municipal police departments on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and in Prince George’s County, Maryland.  While working as a police officer, Darin remained with the security company in a supervisory role until 2010.  In 2004, Darin began working for the Prince George’s County Police Department.  He started in uniformed patrol and quickly moved his way up to become a criminal investigator where he investigated felony robberies, carjackings, and non-fatal shootings for almost a decade.  In January 2016, Darin was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and in January 2021 he retired.

James Seger began his career in law enforcement in 1995 when he joined the James Seger began his career in law enforcement in 1995 when he joined the U.S. Army as a Military Police officer.  James served 5 years in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 2000.  Upon his discharge from the U.S. Army he worked for the Department of State Diplomatic Security Service as a Security Officer.  James was assigned directly to the Secretary of State’s residence due to his top-secret clearance where he provided armed security at her residence.  James joined the Prince George’s County Police Department in 2001.  James worked numerous assignments within the police department. He started in uniform patrol and quickly got transferred to a Special Assignments Team where he was a part of an elite team that targeted major crimes.  James then transferred to a criminal investigative unit where he worked as an investigator for several years and later became the supervisor of that unit.  James created a cell phone mapping and forensics unit for the Prince George’s County Police Department and supervised it for a year.  In January 2012, James was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, and in February 2021 he retired.

Mike joined DMV Security Services in 2022 as a Regional Director, with a primary focus of launching our services in the Carolinas & Georgia. In 2023, Mike was promoted to the role of CEO for the entire company. Prior to joining DMV Security Services, he had an extensive career in retail management with companies such as Walmart, Gap, Inc., and Amazon where he was a multi-unit leader and helped launch several new store locations and new warehouse locations in the Southeast Region. Mike was born and raised in the southern Maryland area, graduating from Gwynn Park High School in 1993; shortly after, Mike obtained his Bachelor's Degree with a major in Criminal Justice from West Liberty University in 1996. Mike currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife Lisa, and two kids Tyler & Emma. In his free time he enjoys a round of golf, spending time in the North Georgia Mountains, and everything involving sports!
